Joe Mastrangelo is the president & CEO of Gas Power Systems for GE Power, overseeing global operations of GE’s Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator and Controls businesses. ver the past 16 years, Joe built broad operating experience across the energy value chain, leading mechanical, electrical and systems technology businesses. Prior to this role, Joe was Chief Executive Officer of GE’s Power Conversion business, which applies the science and systems of power conversion, including process controls, automation systems and high-efficiency power electronics, motors and generators, to help increase the efficiency of the world’s energy infrastructure. Joe also spent over 10 years with GE Oil & Gas, in a progression of leadership roles in finance, quality and commercial operations, culminating in being named a GE Corporate Officer in 2008 while leading GE’s Turbomachinery business.

Since joining the company in 2001, Josh has played an important role in nearly every gas turbine new product introduction. He has spearheaded innovative NPIs like the emulsified liquid fuel system, the elimination of hydraulic systems with fully automatic electric actuation, and the HA PRIME Packaging design. Josh was instrumental in the development of the new H-class air-cooled product line as well as the 7F.05, 7FB Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle and 9F.05 gas turbines. He is currently the senior product manager for the 6F.01 gas turbine.

Dr. Jeffrey Goldmeer is the Manager of Gas Turbine Fuel & Combustion Solutions for GE's heavy-duty gas turbines at GE Power. In this role, he is responsible for strategic development of gas turbine products for emerging fuel applications around the globe. Prior to this role, Dr. Goldmeer was the manager of the Combustion Laboratory at GE's Global Research Center. He has over 18 years of combustion, fuels, and research experience, including a postdoctoral position at NASA. He holds 10 patents, and has presented / published more than 50 conference and journal papers.

In this role, Guy leads the lifecycle product strategy for the advanced gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators, including new products and product up-rates to address customer, industry, and regulatory needs. Guy joined GE in 1991 and has over 23 years of experience in the power generation industry. Prior to his current role, Guy held leadership positions in GE Power & Water and GE’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY, managing products and technologies for steam, gas and wind turbines, as well as gasification, GE Healthcare and GE Aviation.

Gordon Smith

Gordon joined GE in 1981 as an international field engineer performing combined-cycle plant startup. Since then, he led 4.5 GW of combined cycle capacity addition for the Tokyo Electric Power Company and numerous other projects worldwide. Gordon developed the top level controls design for the Marafiq IWPP, which at 2,700 MW and 800,000 gallons per day of desalinated water is the world’s largest integrated water combined-cycle power plant. He lead the GE Rapid Response plant development team resulting in the new fast start combined cycle design and subsequently was System Engineer in the GE Power Plant Innovation Team focused on enhanced operability concepts for GE plants. Currently Gordon is chief consulting engineer for GE Power Plant Engineering in Schenectady, NY.

Louis P. “Pat” Thornton is the technical tendering manager in the turbine integrated solutions division for Alstom, now part of GE’s Power Services. He joined the company in 2003 and previously held positions as the thermal performance engineer and process engineer. Prior to GE, Pat spent 12 years with Cinergy Corporation. Pat has a MSME degree from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Indiana University. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Ohio.

James Fogarty

Dr. Fogarty joined the Large Steam Turbine-Generator Department of GE in 1976, and has been involved in the design and testing of commercial class turbine-generators ranging from small air-cooled generators to large nuclear turbine-generators as well as electric power systems for the US Navy. Dr. Fogarty was the Program Manager for the joint DOE/GE program to develop a 100 MVA High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) Generator. He was also a major technical contributor to the initial DOE-SPI Phase 1 program for HTS generators and coordinated the overall machine optimization, considering coil design, shielding, and torques and forces, and overall electromagnetic design. He has most recently been involved in the conversion of older generators into synchronous condensers.
